Well, I think it’s that time again, the fingers of winter begin to clutch at the trees, shaking the color right out of them with tremendous wind storms! We’ve been having typical fall weather–high winds, blue skies, cold nights; although the upper midwest is being pounded with heavy snow and blizzard conditions, the gulf states are bracing for Hurricane Karen, and the rest of the country…well, it’s all weird! I’ll take Nevada weather–moody I understand.
Went to a wedding on the 21st, which was supposed to be outdoors….thankfully the members of the wedding party had strong men to quickly change the seating before the event started. We enjoyed the drafty inside as it began to drizzle just before the ceremony and were thrilled to just be a little cold and not sopping wet as it absolutely poured during the reception!
And to put a glimmer of ski passion back into my heart, there was even a pretty good layer of snow laid down in the mountains. Of course since then it has melted, and been dusted again, but there is nothing to see up on Rose anymore. But make no mistake, winter is whispering get ready…get ready.
And all this cool weather makes it amazingly fun to torch!! Cool breezes and hot torches are made for each other! I have a client asking for cat necklaces, so I have been enjoying the many variations of cat shapes and finishes–I mean fur colors! Tall and austere, Egyptian and elegant, squat and sassy, pure white or tortoise–they have been a blast to create and reveal their personalities!
While I got plenty of compliments on the chunky cats I made, my favorite is the slim pure white kitty. I couldn’t let her go! She is now hanging around my neck, much to the sincere disinterest of my live kitty. I made a few more in other colors and will post images as soon as I feel like wrestling with the camera….
For now, I’m off to the post office to see if any new glass, tools, supplies or other absolute necessities have arrived!
