Falling For Teal Earrings

"Falling For Teal" is a lovely set of handcrafted lampwork glass earrings with intriguing fall colors.
“Falling For Teal” is a lovely set of handcrafted lampwork glass earrings with intriguing fall colors.

Wow, the color combination on this lovely pair of handcrafted lampwork glass earrings came out much nice than my photos can show! Ambers and a giant fat rod of Lauscha teal glass, delicately pulled into a stringer and applied in layered dots, add so much depth and sparkling interest on these earrings!

Don’t you love it when a new color combo works? Now if I could only remember the whole selection of colors I used,  so I can play with other designs……..sigh, I really need to create recipe cards!

Glass Vessel-Twisted Purple

Luscious transparent purple glass vessel with a twist!

Glass Art Revealed
“Purple Twist” Glass Vessel

This purple glass vessel has a rich clean color that is a nice transparent purple, with a twistie that adds a bit of sass! The vessel was made on the end of a 1/4 inch big hole bead mandrel, so it’s perfect to hold a drop of your favorite scented oil, or even a tiny heartfelt love note!

Some days I just enjoy trying new color combinations, (meaning what ever is hanging around on the bench sometimes….(wink) but this combo really works.

Purple has long been associated with royalty, mystery and magic. Now you can enjoy a piece of your own magic, with a handcrafted lampwork glass vessel!
Nicely sized at ~34mm x 31mm x 14mm.  The Vessel handles are large enough for a chain or thong of your choice!

All Vessels have been carefully kiln-annealed for strength and durability, and are hand cleaned with a Dremel and diamond drill bit to remove any bead release.

Glass Vessel-Orange Lip

Glass Vessel–“Orange Lip”

Glass Art Revealed
“Orange Lip” glass vessel

One of my favorite shapes to create, glass vessels are so much fun because of what you can do with them. They can be long and tapered like this one, or squat and chunky, even shaped like a beer stein or animals horn!

Vessels can include handles–a single, double, or even three, or can be left without any. The lip can be dramatic or subtle, in a contrasting color or even the same color glass as the body, but in a transparent or opaque version of the same color! Adding frit (small chunks of glass) or twisties (two or more colors of glass twisted together) can add to the uniqueness of each vessel.

Vessels have been around since as early as the Neolithic and are known as amphora. They were produced to hold products both wet and dry, but mostly wines and olive oils. Versions created in miniature could be  for exotic scents to be displayed on a lady’s dressing table, or wire wrapped into a beautiful necklace, ready to hold a sweet petite love note…
Vibrant orange lip with yummy swirls of silver glass on a muted purple base creates a unique vessel to hold a love note, or even a drop of fragrant oil.

This fabulous vessel bead is 16.9mm wide x 39.4mm long and was created on a 5/32 mandrel. A cork is included, but not shown!

Glass Pinwheel Star-Twisted Blues

Glass Pinwheel Stars-“Twisted Blues”

Glass Art Revealed Glass Bead
Glass Pinwheel Star-Twisted Blues

Pinwheels aren’t just for the wind! This sweet glass bead features cool pinwheel spirals inside the transparent core, with lively spots and dots of bright blue and sky blue.

I twisted the whole bead while it was hot to create the appearance of motion with the pinwheel fins–and that is easier said than done!

The glass has to be hot enough to move, without distorting the pattern. It has to be moved gently so as not to break the bead release! The planets have to align on just the right day for this to work………….!

Needless to say, handcrafting lampwork glass pinwheel beads are an exercise in heat control and patience. But they appeal to my stubborn side!
