Planting Now: Glass Garden Gnomes!!

Spring has Sprung. It’s Tme to Plant Glass Garden Gnomes!!

I recently made these freaking adorable Garden Gnomes and can hardly wait to make more! They look especially great in indoor plants, adding a big pop of color and a whole lot of whimsy too!

Glass Gnomes are made by melting the lampwork glass rods directly on the wire stake, which are about 5-6″ long–perfect for staggering them at different heights in your plants! Find them listed in my Etsy shop here!

Glass Dread Beads

Dread beads made of glass are made on much bigger than normal mandrels so they fit bigger dreadlocks. My Dread beads start at a 6mm (1/4″) hole, and can get much larger –  up to an inch (25mm)!

Sooooo–yeeha! I finally made some glass Dread beads again and am happy to see them going to righteous homes, ready to adorn some seriously glorious locs! Here is a small sample of some beauties–

Several have already sold, but if you see one you like I may be able to replicate it. Silver glass is notoriously finicky and touch to make exactly like the first iteration. That’s definitely part of the charm, the delight, the love — and utter frustration — of Double Helix silver glass!

The delight of seeing a baby poo brown rod of glass get melted at 1500* and then result in the rainbow swirl of colors is amazing and still a little magic to me! I hope you enjoy the magic as well! And if you do want purchase or see more, I humbly invite you to browse my Etsy store

Thanks again!

Glass Stars!

New Glass Stars are in my Etsy shop!

I really love making these Glass Stars even though they can drive ya crazy–stacks and stacks and layers and more layers of glass. Keeping it warm but not so soft the “spokes” fall over. Happening heat control is the key. And maybe a beer. yeah, a beer may help.

Because it is farking HOT here lately. Coming up on 13 days of 100+ temps. IN. A. ROW. Too hot to sit in front of the torch, too hot to fire up the fusing kiln, too hot to sleep, too hot to play in the garden. Damn, it’s hot.

So instead I dream of cool nights, with soothing moonlight and winking starlight, and hope for days of saner temps. And imagine all the new designs, and color combinations, shapes and techniques I can create with!

Enjoy the Glass Stars–and let me know if you want any articular colors!!

Garden Art

Garden Art is for all areas!

Ugggg, the unseasonal heat wave is kicking butt here! A hot studio makes it miserable to torch, so I have been working on my fused glass art. It is a lot easier to cut, design and prep pieces for the kiln to “cook” them over night while I am safely slumbering in my air conditioned house!

No surprise–fused glass garden art is a fun choice and perfect to enhance any garden or backyard — or even indoors! The shine of the glass, the rich colors that never fade–what’s not to like??

Here are some of my new Suncatchers–available in my Etsy shop and the Artists Co-op Gallery in Reno. New designs are ready for their close up (photography that is!) but it is so much more fun to make than take photos….. they’ll be coming soon though, I promise.

I hope you are enjoying your extra hot rays of sunny goodness–and a pretty piece or two of glass garden art! Smiles, Sheri

And the 2020 Winner is…..

… 2020 for most Insane. Year. Ever.

And we still have 3 months before we can shut the damn door on 2020, with an ugly nasty election, hurricanes, tropical storms and then a deep cold winter, major flu season and oh yeah, whatever else falls out of the sky!! And it all won’t go away when that old clock strikes the New Year 12. Oh no. But we can hope. We can hope.

And while we strive to successfully cope – or not, eat healthy – or not, exercise daily – or not, with the bizarreness of 2020, I hope we can all agree on one thing–focusing on glass art helps keep our collective sanity!

Whether you are a buyer, seller, collector or admirer, being in the company of vibrant art, inspired creativity, glorious color and bright happy shiny stuff takes you to a good place, a happy place, a place without untruths and vacuous dribble, greedy or selfish behavior…. glass simply allows you be in the moment, enjoying the sheer wonder of its giant beauty encased in a tiny sphere.

Need to hear the sound of angels? Ring the edge of a handblown goblet! Want to get down and dirty? Start a game of handcrafted marbles! Want some real magic in your life? It’s easy –just add glass art!!
