Rainbow Bridge Poem

Glass Pet Cremation Jewelry
Rainbow Paw Pendant

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When and animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who where hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers.

Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together….

Halloween!

Ok, it’s the day before Halloween and I still don’t have a costume….ah, well, no parties for me–just going to enjoy the kiddies in theirs!

Of course, it will be a constant battle to keep my poor dog from going berserk with the doorbell and excited voices…I almost think it would be better to not have the lights on and skip the fun….or maybe not!

Our neighborhood has grown since we moved in 2 years ago, with more family and kids, and I know at least one little guy will be coming over for sure.

Okay, off to buy candy!

Whispers of Winter..and kitty beads

Well, I think it’s that time again, the fingers of winter begin to clutch at the trees, shaking the color right out of them with tremendous wind storms! We’ve been having typical fall weather–high winds, blue skies, cold nights; although the upper midwest is being pounded with heavy snow and blizzard conditions, the gulf states are bracing for Hurricane Karen, and the rest of the country…well, it’s all weird!  I’ll take Nevada weather–moody I understand.

Went to a wedding on the 21st, which was supposed to be outdoors….thankfully the members of the wedding party had strong men to quickly change the seating before the event started. We enjoyed the drafty inside as it began to drizzle just before the ceremony and were thrilled to just be a little cold and not sopping wet as it absolutely poured during the reception!

And to put a glimmer of ski passion back into my heart, there was even a pretty good layer of snow laid down in the mountains. Of course since then it has melted, and been dusted again, but there is nothing to see up on Rose anymore. But make no mistake, winter is whispering get ready…get ready.

And all this cool weather makes it amazingly fun to torch!! Cool breezes and hot torches are made for each other! I have a client asking for cat necklaces, so I have been enjoying the many variations of cat shapes and finishes–I mean fur colors! Tall and austere, Egyptian and elegant, squat and sassy, pure white or tortoise–they have been a blast to create and reveal their personalities!

While I got plenty of compliments on the chunky cats I made, my favorite is the slim pure white kitty. I couldn’t let her go! She is now hanging around my neck, much to the sincere disinterest of my live kitty. I made a few more in other colors and will post images as soon as I feel like wrestling with the camera….

For now, I’m off to the post office to see if any new glass, tools, supplies or other absolute necessities have arrived!

Nevada Humane Society show

The Nevada Humane Society had their annual “Home For the Holidays” arts and craft show to benefit the deserving puppies and kitties of our community.

I spent the entire day where my table was set up surrounded by and looking at sweet kitty faces, trying desperately not to get too attached to any of them. Sadie Mae and Winnie would not be too thrilled with sharing “Mom”!

Great news though–The last I had heard they had found forever homes for at least 30 animals by Saturday night–yea!!

More Snow!

Yep, it’s official–there’s snow in dem dar hills! And it’s still raining here, so….hopefully it is a good water year and we recharge our storage systems. Too busy to write as much as I should right now, but I had to mention the snow! Tomorrow is a puppy sitting day–I’m sure I’ll have a few comments to add!

Smiles, Sheri
